Description
• Fibre protection OFI (OFI-C / OFI-R) is a flexible wall penetration designed for installation together with transfer air units.
• The protection sleeve is designed to prevent the spread of fibres and particles from wall insulation in air flows.
• The product is specially developed for the increasing occurance of insulated walls in connection with transfer air applications with purpose to meet current installation recommendations for the mandatory ventilation control inspections (OVK).
• A common measure today is to install sheet metal sleeves as wall penetrations for transfer air cut-outs in insulated stud-walls, however, sheet-metal sleeves significantly impairs the sound attenuating properites in such a scenario, often without the client or project manager being aware of the impairment. With OFI, neither the free area nor the sound attenuation is negatively affected.
• The cover acts as a flexible and elastic penetration sleeve that is pressed into the cut-out and blocks fibres and mineral particles from wall insulation from spreading into the air flow without affecting the free area for the required flow capacity.
• The lack of protective measures to prevent fibre ingestion in insulated walls typically results in a formal remark and requires corrective actions to secure approval at the final ventilation system inspection.
• The cover is available in a version for circular holes ÖFI-C and rectangular holes ÖFI-R
• OFI is available in versions for circular openings OFI-C and rectangular openings OFI-R.
• The covers are supplied for two different wall depths, 70 and 95 mm respectively.
• Both versions are supplied for three different hole dimensions, see Options and accessories.
Circular version – OFI-C (ÖFI-C):
– Can be combined with the following transfer units: OLR/ÖLR, ODA/ÖDA*), SOD/SÖD[b]*), S2O/S2Ö*), E5O

• OFI-C (ÖFI-C) / OFI-R (ÖFI-R): Made from environmentally friendly, flame-retardant polyurethane foam. The material is CertiPUR and Oeko-Tex certified.
General
• The accessory is installed as complement to transfer air units and is installed in cut-outs in stud walls.
• The product is primarily intended for installation in insulated stud walls, but can also be used in uninsulated stud walls.
• Always follow the specified hole cutting dimensions in the installation instructions for the specific transfer air unit with which the fibre protections sleeve is installed.
• The protection cover is fully fitted into the cut-out, similar to a penetration sleeve.
• When installing in insulated stud walls, the wall insulation is pushed aside to create space for the protections sleeve.
• The cover must be pressed into the hole, so that it is completely enclosed within the wall and does not block any part of the hole area.
• The elastic and self-tensioning properties of the sleeve makes it easy to press outwards against the insulation in the stud wall.
• The cover is ideally fitted into the cut-out before installing the transfer unit and mounting frame.
• The fibre protection cover can, however, be installed either before or after installation of the transfer unit.
Circular version – OFI-C (ÖFI-C):
• OFI-C is supplied in two dimensions: a smaller size for transfer air diffusers Ø100 and Ø125, and a larger size for Ø160.
• The protection sleeve is made of flexible material and is pressed into the wall opening in the stud wall.
• Ensure that the sleeve does not cover any part of the cut-out opening before installing the transfer air unit.
Rectangular version – OFI-R (ÖFI-R):
• OFI-R is delivered in 4 separate parts that is fitted together in rectangular hole cuttings.
• The four parts of the cover can be sealed together with silicone previous to installation. In this case, the correct fit must be ensured. See separate mounting instructions (PDF)
• When installing the protection sleeve with a grille where the width deviates from the standard widths of the sleeve (B≠300, B≠550 or B<800 mm), the bottom and top sections must be cut to length prior to installation.”
